Thursday Tip with Hali - Mind the Gap

Thursday Tip // Mind the gap! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It’s another installment of “Let your pins work for you, not against you”. I (Hali) was sewing a bunch of new masks (using a great tutorial by @sewdiypatterns) last weekend and the phrase “mind the gap” came to mind while I was coming around to the end of the seam. I can’t even count how many times I have sewn past a gap that was meant to remain open and spent time unpicking so I could turn the project right side out or insert elastic into my waistband. Maybe I am a very distracted sewist and this isn’t a common problem but I love this simple trick that saves me precious sewing minutes. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Take a second to locate a different coloured pin (or the most obvious color if you use multi-coloured pins) to mark the end of your seam. If you aren’t into pinning everything but you still want to remember where to stop sewing, just throw one pin at the end of the seam or use a clip, chalk mark or some other visual to mark that spot.
